Changing Service Members Lives

Here are just a few letters we received from appreciative service members:

“We woke up in very strange land, we didn’t know up from down, but we knew this wasn’t our hometown. SGT came to the door and said, “saddle up, you ain’t home no more.” We went to work and did our dirt but couldn’t help but feel hurt. When we sleep we see our friends and family havin a laugh, but we wake up and realize it couldn’t last. We’re so far from home, so lost and so alone. All we can think about is going home. You won’t understand why were so alone. How can you? You’ve never left your home. We are the ones that hope you don’t forget us way back home.” ~ PV2 Mason G., A Deployed Soldier

“Hi S.A.W., I am an American Soldier. This is my first deployment to the Middle East. I received a care package from your company. I would like to say thank you very much. The only thing worse than the extreme heat is feeling like you have been forgotten. My name is Cathryn S, I am an active duty US Army Soldier. Our Internet capabilities are very slim. I held on to this email address for a few weeks until I could get a chance to say thank you. I must go now. Thank you for your support, Cathryn S.”

“Dear Soldiers Around the World, I am a Soldier who benefited from a care package that you sent. The goodies that Valassis generously provided went directly to Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, and Marines who are still serving in harm’s way, around the clock. 2 Corinthians 9:6-7 says, “But this I say: He who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver.” Thank you and God bless you for the little taste of home and for the supplies which keep monies in our wallets and soap in our hands at the latrines. I’d like to also say that the letters from the 2nd Graders are proudly on display and remind everyone who enjoys a goodie that our children are worth fighting and dying for.” Respectfully, ” MAJ Aaron A. 1st Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division “ALL THE WAY… AIRBORNE!” ”

“Soldiers Around the World & Valasis, I received your package the other day and I wanted to say thank you so much for everything. It means a lot. I know that my Soldiers also received packages and they were pleased with everything. I know for the younger Soldiers they are yet to understand that the world has not stopped when they are away. When they were living back at home and shortly after graduation from Basic Training they received all the attention from family and friends, but when they leave for deployments; life continues on. They do not always receive mail or packages because families get busy or are dealing with other issues. This takes the attention off of the young Soldier. You made them remember that someone still cares. Once again thanks for being that one that cares.” “Soldier’s First, NCOs Lead the way” SFC Brandon H.

“Dear Valassis and Soldiers Around the World, Hi my name is Christos S. I am 19 years old and I am in the U.S. army, I am writing you to thank you for the care packages you sent me. I would like to thank you so much from the bottom of my heart for how much you are doing for me and other soldiers around the world. When I get a care package it’s like Christmas especially when I get back from the field and it has been almost a month and I have been eating almost nothing but M.R.E. for about a month. Your kindness has made a big difference to me and I am so grateful to know that there are people back home supporting soldiers. You really put a smile on my face and make me happy for the care packages you sent me, thank you so much I really appreciate you. Sincerely,PFC Christos S.”

Hi SAW, Just wanted to wish you Happy Holidays, and to thank you again for the work that your organization does. We are still receiving packages in almost daily. I attached a photo of a few of my folks that we took at our Christmas Eve movie party with some of the packages that we’ve received.  MICHAEL L. W., CMSgt, USAF  12/24/2014
